+++EUSA rejects Daily Mail Ban+++

Good news from Edinburgh University Student's Association, the Committee of Management have rejected the ridiculous attempt to ban the Daily Mail from outlets.

Well done to

Stuart MacLennan
. There are still some good people left in the Labour Party and that shouldn't be forgotten. Stuart lead the campaign against the illiebral and naive moves from the deluded executive.

Phew.

UPDATE 18.33: The vote was 6 in Favour, 9 Against. Six too many.

Ban a newspaper they don't like?

You'd have to wonder what's next? A book burning?

Wonder what odds we'd get on one of the six twats going into 'serious' politics when they hit puberty and ending up sucking up to Dacre or the DM proprietors for support?

Can you name and shame the 6?

Chances are, they aren't particularly bothered. Like any other Committee they probably feel they should be doing something and simply chose banning the Daily Mail as they considered it an easy way of looking like they were busy.

If I remember, their reasoning was suitably lame, "it might offend foreign students". Personally I find that comment in itself racist. Surely foreign students are capable of laughing at the Daily Mail like most people in this country do?

From Camilla's Twitter:

The six in favour of the ban: Adam Ramsey, Guy Bromley, Naomi Hunter, Peter McColl, Luke Buckley and the University Rep.

The nine against: Stuart MacLennan, James Wallace, Kristofer Keane, Sam Hansford, Oliver Smith, Johnny Cockayne, Malcolm Hutchison, Steven Hill, Andrew Walker-Smith

George Thomas took the chair for the debate and didn't vote either way.
