Best Poster Ever

Prescott tried it, Clifford Singer the man behind the hilariously bad "Other TPA" site tried it (with the endorsment of Labour PPC and Second Coming Chuka Umunna and surprise surprise a man who drunkenly bragged he coordinated Labour PPC's twitter activities.) Yet this one has to be the most hilarious coat tailing attempt by a politico to rip of the Conservatives Cameron poster:

Just wow.

Oh god, that's the home crafted scarf of my nightmares. Get thee to the fashion channel!

Surely there's some more intelligent comment than that? Ok, he's not very good looking; I'm pretty sure that we all know he's a guy; and a comment about the fact that he isn't dressed totally in very latest style isn't exactly probing intellectually, is it?

Anyone care to comment on the deficit and how we are going to get it down, or inheritence tax, and whether or not we need to cut it....?

I get that a lot. :P

We can't go on like this.
I'll force you into a new dark age AND make you dress like an effing '70s Dr Who.

Apparently not. Probably because the Tories are wanting to keep the cat (bear?) in the bag that they plan to slash services for the poorest to cut tax for the wealthiest 0.37% of the population...

Jesus H. Christ, that's abysmal.

Doesn't he/she look smart? Mummies little soldier.

Is the scarf intentionally trying to copy Robin Harper?

Serious point about the inheritance tax cut though. We should be cutting subsidies rather than taxes. Including the vast subsidies to our hugely inefficient and wasteful arms industry. (yes it creates jobs. so did the mining industry. but it doesn't make economic sense).

I expect the Americans have told the UK to subsidise the arms industry. It is normal for British First Ministers to do exactly what they are told by American Presidents. It's either that or leave the top table, and they wouldn't want that.

I ran against this guy in an election but I would never be this mean to him! He's very nice and I like his scarf, so there :P

Plus he looks male and even if he didn't that would be a very rude and transphobic comment, Tory Taff.

You all need to sort yourselves out and find something real to bitch about rather than a poster.

Kid looks nearly as gay as Cameron!

Transphobic?!

You must be taking the absolute piss. This overly political correct nonsense has got to go.

Conand said...

OK Kate. Posters are real, even virtual ones knocked up for the internet.
Interesting that you pop up and say, "You shouldn't say that". How did I immediately know you were from the Left?
But you are right about their being other things to bitch about. I'm worried about the left seemingly wanting to destroy the nation state, science, religion, democracy, families, individual freedom, individual responsibility, free speech, African economies, trial by jury, habeas corpus, the arts, the principle that we shouldn't be ruled by unelected elites, education, society, the economy, the national finances, the public sector, the private sector, enterprise, a fundamental trust of our fellow human beings, RSI.. oh actually no, you're promoting that really.

@Anonymous
Trans and genderqueer people are one of the most discriminated groups in society. So yes transphobic is a valid term in the same way that racist and homophobic are. Gender isn't confined to two groups and forcing people to define in a way they do not or trying to put people into convenient boxes gender-wise to is horrendous. Look at the way Caster Semenya was treated.

@Conand
Yes I'm from the left, and not ashamed of it. People can say what they like but I'm also allowed to tell them if I think they're being rude or horrible, otherwise you're prohibiting my freedom of speech..... Re: your views on the Left (which is by no means united in its aims or ideas by the way), it's not some sort of bizarre conspiracy! I'm leftwing because I want to make a difference to people's lives not because I'm intent on destroying the world. I don't think rightwing people are intent on destroying the world either; they just have different ideas about how best to run things.

@Kate

Well I wish I could believe you. Maybe it is a presentational problem, like Gordon Brown is.

Re the transphobic thing: it's a similar idea to racism. You shouldn't need many braincells to see the difference between making jokes about race/racism (which is obviously OK), or being racist to somone (which stupid and mean).

Conand: you're getting confused between the age-old, hyperbolic stereotypes of left and right, and the actual policies of the parties. which are very similar. if we ignore the crazies at both ends of the political spectrum, and look at the actual facts and expert predictions, we can get a more grownup view of the problems and how to mediate them. Of course, this blog contributes little in the way of intellectual analysis. It is mostly finger-pointing crazies.
