The Tale of Sir Robin MP

Jonathan Isaby is on fine form over at ConservativeHome. He has drawn up the ChickenWatch

list
of all those MPs who are choosing to stand down rather than face a target seat battle against a Tory. All together now:
Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away away.

When danger reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.

Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the braaaave, Sir Robin!
Good to see Jonathan and Tim really taking the attack to the enemy and highlighting these sort of embarassing facts. More please!

How lame. Like Tory MPs didn't do a runner in '97 - Nicholas Soames, Michael Ancram, John Maples, Stephen Dorrell, Bernard Jenkin, Peter Lilley, Francis Maude, to name but a few, all took the cowardly option of abandoning their marginal seats and standing elsewhere in 'safe' seats.
