Nothing a bit of tear gas wouldn't sort out...

Thirty students have occupied a lecture theatre in Edinburgh, in yet another ridiculous sit in for Gaza. The conflict is over and it seems to TB that these unwashed barbarians are just looking to cause trouble.

Their blog
makes for hilarious reading, especially the spirit of '68 and creative space bits.

Lock them in there, cut the power, cut the food supply... They'll soon be begging to be let out.

This has been going on at Glasgow Uni for days now. They've hijacked the computer science building. I'm so pissed off at them, they are actually ruining the education of people who have spent thousands of pounds for it.

I imagine you and I will agree on this issue. Keep an eye out for YouTube rant soon :P

It is a bloody disgrace, tree hugging great unwashed. I hope they put as much effort in their work as they do in wasting everyones bloody time.

i find your position incredible. Firstly this is about ending support for the horrific persecution of the Palestinian people that has PERSISTED since 1967! The wars (or the bits of them) that make it to the BBC news are not the whole story.
And secondly, the occupying students are not preventing lectures from taking place. In fact one lecture was still held without disruption in the occupied lecture theater before the university saw fit to transfer lectures to another location.
Just thought your other readers might appreciate the clarification.

these people should be ashamed that in a democratic country they do something so UNDEMOCRATIC!!! its disgusting. and ironic. they occupy something telling us that israel occupies palestine and hence, is bad. i guess, in this case, they are israel, and we are palestine? so lets throw rockets at them and get them out! ... idiots. if our university concedes i will leave this university and take my 10,000 pounds a yr with it!

I was studying at LSE last year when a group of particular students proceeded in a similar fashion of shoving their views and policies down the throats of others. In their eyes, there was no comprimise. It was either their way or no way. You were either with them or against them.
For all these people that conduct these sit-ins and protests, you very rarely hear the word peace. At Edinburgh, you have people making demands. Do they think for a second that they are going to resolve anything by taking such an aggressive stance? The situations around the world, in relation to war and conflict, arise simply because people do not have the ability to be rational and adult about the situation. Placing yourself in a lecture hall is nothing more than an empty gesture. Go out and do something productive!
