This Labour government has been a grave disappointment, but to claim that 'the Labour Party has caused catastrophic damage to the public perception of political life' is pointless hyperbole. The damage was done long ago; you just don't remember the Conservative governments of the '80s and '90s.<BR/><BR/>I was at Cambridge in 1994 and no-one, literally no-one, was a young Conservative. Why? 15 years of Tory rule. Things have now come full circle and the Conservatives will no doubt win the next general election. It would be nice, however, to retain some sense of historical perspective and realise that the failings of New Labour mirror those of previous incumbents.<BR/><BR/>P.S. This is a surprisingly good blog.
