Lying or Incompetent?

Which is it?

Once again the Liberal Democrats are fighting a dirty by-election campaign. That graph is a joke. The Lib Dems might try and be all nice and fluffy and clean at Westminster but they are lying cheats on the ground.

What do you expect though when the guy running the campaign is on the fiddle.

What about that graph is inaccurate? Unless the commentary on it "on page 2" is misleading I don't see a problem.

Even so, I've never seen the objection to barcharts unless they really cross the line into falsehood - all they say is "if you vote for us, we might win".

Of course, if you want to do away with tactical vote squeeze messages, get behind electoral reform and they won't be necessary!

Case and point.

Typical Lib Dem - lie then deny you have done anything wrong.

The size of the 4% gap is double the size of the 10%.

Guess we'll have to go with incompetent for you Mr Mathis.

I'm impressed by the Liberal Democrat machine. If it weren't for the fact that the Tory party rises above such propaganda (well, mostly) we would try the same thing I bet.

Very smart, undermining the intelligence of the British public. The worst part is that it works!

Ben is a well known Bar Chart fiddler in Reading. No surprises he's having a go at you, after all according to the local papers they are going to win and win big.

Fourth behind the greens in Reading East nowhere in Reading West... but lets not let the facts get in the way.

Oh I see!

I've seen far FAR worse from all parties on that score. This barchart gives accurate figures in quite big type for anyone to read, but it has a job to do. It's a squeeze message. We want people who woud otherwise vote Labour or Green to vote for us in Norwich North and the squeeze message helps us convey that.

Sadly, regularly whooping Tory and Labour's collective ass on policy is not enough in our system, we need this two-party squeeze. It's horrible, I know, but that's politics.

It could be worse, our leader could be celebrating gay pride after having voted against gay equality legislation and after having formed a group with Polish homophobes ;-)
