Another Hat in the Ring

Simon Cavalier-Jones is speaking at a big CF area meeting tonight in Leeds. TB understands the will be declaring he is running and giving a speech setting out his plans for CF and then asking for the endorsement Yorkshire CF. In terms of regions Yorkshire is on the biggest and most active and any candidate with their support has to be a runner in this election.

East Midlands CF have already endorsed his candidacy, so we're looking at the prospect of a Northern power base Not much is known about Cavalier-Jones, except that he is 25 and works in consultancy. He worked across the East Midlands on the target seat campaign during the elections. He is certainly looking like the outside candidate and is said to have a fair bit of cash behind his bid.

He would take CF backwards if elected.

All depends on whether the guys at the top of these organisations are delivering the votes, or simply talking big.

This guy is the next Cf chair, heard him speak tonight and he was much better than any chairman candidate I have heard in years.

Is Simon Cavalier-Jones like the Jim Garner MP from the Labour leader search?

With out sounding like Ayn Rand but who is Simon Cavalier-Jones? Is this a master tactic by keep geting people asking who he is whilst building name recognition and let the others throw mud at each other so he can be the 'none of the above' candidate?

It's sad to see that other side are already attacking him. Simon has never smeared anybody and I was disgusted with an e-mail Mr Howlett sent about him the other day, just pure lies.

The reality here is that he is working hard, has good ideas and is a competent individual. Frankly let him get on with it. The other candidates can sling mud around but they won't gain anything from doing so.

His plans are credible, so is he. This might be a shock for a CF election, but let him get on with it.

As far as I know, Simon plans to run a clean campaign without throwing mud at other candidates. Voters will have the final say and specially young conservatives always takes right decision. Let the candidates to come out with their strategies and let the voters to decide which candidate's manifesto will benefit CF.

I heard Simon CJ speak during his campaign launch in Leeds. An excellent speaker, with a solid plan to take CF into the future. He has my full backing.

What exactly have the executive done recently? Especially the new lot - Donelan/Hampshire/Taylor? What a load of bollocks.

Scrap CF.

My God, grow up random CF members! Man declares his intention to run for post that he has a right to do. Not exactly a shock, frankly he has an advantage already simply because he is not involved in all this bitching and backbiting.

Speaking as a Yorkshire CF-er, I'd say the paramount concern for us here is to make CF much less London-centric and much more inclusive of the regions.

Simon has made this one of the key features of his campaign and, as a provincial himself, this is why I'm backing his bid.

If you going to *try* and slate me, at least spell my name correctly.

Through CFTV and other mediums I created many campaign and advertisment videos promoting CF and the work that CF does. In the run up to the election, at least 1 video a week was released.

Through the CFBranch program there are over 120 CF branches now with their own websites and the facilities for sending out mass mailings to their membership. Easy contact points make it easier for like minded people to connect.

My record for my relatively short time in CF speaks for itself.

You may not like Ben Howlett but it's a bit low to accuse him of sending a nasty email and then not showing anyone. If anything, sounds to me like you're the negative one here.

I think Simon Jones is exactly the kind of national chairman CF needs right now. He's not one of the 'London Insiders' and wants to devolve power to the CF regions by breaking up the NME. This is the kind of reform that CF has needed for years.

Oh my goodness. This is all so deeply pathetic.

There all useless. There should be debates between the candidates so members can decide for themselves which person is slighly less useless then the others.

If Simon really wants to be seen has a serious contender for Chairman, he should really fight to campaign fairly.

His current tactics and behaviour is appauling.
